Our custom-designed wheels setup gives students the power to explore how mass distribution affects rotational inertia - a concept critical in physics, robotics, and engineering. When used in conjunction with our trebuchet kit, students can conduct experiments on how rotational inertia influences projectile motion, force, angular acceleration, and energy transfer.
This 3-4 week project is 100% remote. We'll ship materials to your home, and you'll return them upon completion. This is a volunteer research opportunity.
What You’ll Do:
- Design experiments
- Collect and analyze data on rotational acceleration and energy output
- Compare launch distances and angular momentum
- Understand the connection between rotational physics and real-world engineering systems
- Publish a research report or presentation under the Maker Mindz Research Series. This will include relevant pictures and video recordings of your experiments.
What You’ll Learn:

- Application of scientific method: forming hypotheses, testing, analyzing, and presenting results
