At Maker Mindz, we believe students learn best by doing. That’s why we’re offering experimental research opportunities for middle & high school students. You could choose one or more of the offered topics. Tools include: rotational inertia wheels, center of mass wheels, slope/car/weight set, density, trebuchet, city planning kit.
Are you a middle or high school student curious about science, technology, engineering or math? Do you love to explore big ideas and share what you learn?
Join our STEM Podcast Speaker Program! Research a STEM topic you're passionate about and create your own 20-minute podcast episode.
Our custom-designed tools give students the power to explore Physics concepts like how mass distribution affects rotational inertia, how rotational inertia influences projectile motion, how size & weight distribution impact speed/acceleration, how density impacts design of underwater systems or what factors to consider in designing an efficient city.
You can choose one topic or more. This 4 week project per topic is 100% remote. We'll ship materials to your home, and you'll return them upon completion. This is an unpaid research opportunity.
Are you passionate about STEM and love to communicate your ideas? Maker Mindz is excited to launch an opportunity just for YOU!
This is a chance for middle and high school students to research a STEM topic of their choice and produce a 20-minute podcast episode. The goal is to share knowledge, curiosity, and creativity with other students across the world - while gaining real-world experience in communication, research, and podcast production. This opportunity is 100% remote. This is an unpaid research opportunity.

Week 1: Explore & Select Your Research Topic
Students will meet with our team to learn about available research topics based on our trebuchet and rotational inertia kits. They will choose a topic that interests them and aligns with their curiosity. After the session, we’ll ship the necessary materials directly to their home or school.
Week 2: Plan & Prepare Your Investigation
With guidance from our mentors, students will create a research plan. They will learn how to set up their experiment, control variables, and gather accurate data using scientific techniques. This week builds the foundation of a rigorous and exciting inquiry process.
Week 3: Learn to Communicate Like a Scientist
Students will be introduced to the basics of writing and presenting scientific work. They will learn how to structure their findings, create visuals (like graphs and charts), and communicate results clearly and persuasively, skills essential for real-world STEM communication.
Week 4: Final Review & Celebration of Research
Students will receive feedback on their research paper and finalize their submission. We’ll wrap up with a celebration session, highlighting student work and reflecting on their learning journey. Students will receive a certificate and have their research published or shared with our broader community.

Week 1: Discover & Define Your Podcast Topic
Students will join a kickoff session where they’ll explore potential podcast themes. While STEM topics are encouraged, students may also choose related fields like innovation, sustainability, or science in everyday life. With mentor support, they’ll finalize their topic and begin outlining their focus.
Week 2: Research & Build Your Script
This week focuses on gathering reliable information and learning how to turn research into a compelling story. Students will develop a short script (4–7 minutes), learn storytelling techniques, and practice weaving facts into engaging narratives. Templates and mentor feedback will guide their progress.
Week 3: Record & Refine Your Episode
Students will learn basic audio recording tips using simple tools (e.g., phone, computer, free editing software). They’ll record their podcast with guidance, and our team will help polish the audio and script if needed. This phase boosts confidence and creativity.
Week 4: Publish & Celebrate Your Voice
We’ll finalize editing and publish the student’s podcast episode on our platform. Students will be recognized in a celebratory session, receive a certificate, and see their work promoted across our social media and learning networks. Their voice will inspire other young learners.
